Antique 19th Century Mamluk Revival Incised Brass Candlestick - 3 lbs Heavy Sand-Cast Ottoman Style Grand Tour Islamic Metalware
Beautiful, highly collectable 19th-century Islamic Mamluk Revival brass candlestick. This exceptional piece of historic metalware features a traditional architectural form with a heavy, truncated bell-shaped base, a prominent central tiered drip pan, and an incised cylindrical neck.
The entire exterior surface is densely hand-etched with intricate geometric arabesques, scrolls, and traditional repeating Islamic motifs. Reflecting authentic mid-to-late 1800s craftsmanship, this piece is solidly sand-cast, weighing an impressive 3 pounds.
Collector & Authenticity Notes:
• Construction: The base and neck were cast separately and joined via a traditional hand-hammered copper core rivet visible inside the rough, sand-cast cavity.
• Markings: Features an elusive stamped workshop oval monogram or blazon insignia under the tiered drip pan area, along with faint, hand-scratched initials inside the base from a past historical collection.
• Condition: Excellent antique condition with a rich, uncleaned native dark bronze/brass patina. We have left the historic surface entirely untouched to preserve its full antiquarian value. Perfect for collectors of Ottoman, Syrian, Egyptian, or Grand Tour metalwork.
